Casusa brings memories, materials, time and sensations together in compositions built through layers, contrasts and gestures.
Paper, fabric, handwriting and pigment are more than support: they preserve traces of stories and turn the surface into a presence. Between abstraction and figuration, the works connect personal memory, popular imagery and everyday experience.
About the artist
José Casusa de Oliveira Neto
Brazilian visual artist based in Maceió, Alagoas.
His work emerges from the encounter between memory, time, perception and material. Everyday experience is reorganised into images with a strong physical presence, where painting, writing and reused materials coexist in tension.
